Rapid delivered planned and responsive General Building Maintenance Works continuously across all campuses of TAFE NSW Sydney Institute, starting in 2001 and extending through to 2008, followed by planned and responsive Electrical and Fire Systems Maintenance from 2008 to 2012 – this component included requirements for 2-hour emergency response, 24/7/365. We delivered these works to in excess of 80 buildings in an environment which is occupied and operating from early in the morning until late at night, 6 days a week throughout the year. Successful delivery of maintenance works in such an environment is contingent upon all personnel maintaining constant vigilance to ensure the strictest control over ethical and behavioural standards.
We are justifiably proud of our unblemished record in this regard and we still utilise the work practices implemented here as models across all our education and public sector sites. Our experience on TAFE NSW Sydney Institute sites also provided our personnel with a keen sense of the cultural significance of the built environment and the importance of balancing the needs of client energy saving initiatives or ergonomic and WHS-related desires against the heritage status of certain structures.
