Golden Water Mouth

Haymarket, City of Sydney
Sydney Open Museum / City of Sydney Council / Sydney's Chinese Community

This technically challenging project was delivered by Rapid in September 1999. The yellow box eucalypt required a complicated drilling process to permit the passage of water pipes through its 11 metre length, ahead of installation and commissioning on the corner of Hay and Sussex Streets in Chinatown, while protecting the 23-carat gold leaf over fibre-glass applied by the artist.
