Rapid has continuously provided a proven, efficient, effective and injury-free service delivery model to Sydney Trains, NSW TrainLink, the Novorail Alliance and Transport for NSW (as well as their precursor organisations) for almost 25 years, completing our first project, on Sydney Signal Box, for State Rail in 1992.
Since then we have completed well over two hundred projects across a diverse range of assets including maintenance depots, stations, bridges, overpasses, platforms and buildings, corporate offices and projects in the rail corridor / danger zone environments.
Rapid continues to enhance its Heritage offering in the rail sector as well, most recently at the following State Heritage Register listed stations:
Repaired 95 Double hung sash cord windows to an operable state and repainted
Removed 3 windows that had deteriorated beyond repair and replaced with windows to match the existing in all ways
Replaced Joinery doors where they were missing or failed and incorporated surviving elements in the new doors and jambs
Refurbished the cupola, securing it and replacing deteriorated structural elements and renewed the lead roof and apron
Refurbished the lead and stone portico
Removed termite affected columns and replaced subsiding footings
Structural repairs and rust treatment of platform awning brackets and repairs to failing brickwork
General repairs to fabric of all buildings
Complete stripping to original substrate of all painted surfaces
Detailed repairs to original fabric
Painting in original colours
Werris Creek Rail Journeys Museum
Complete station refurbishment including the replacement of failing floors
Rapid has worked on rail infrastructure projects across NSW; from the Sydney Harbour Bridge, west to Bathurst, south to Tumbarumba and north to Werris Creek and Casino.
Rapid maintains an extensive kit of specialist, client-approved tools and equipment including insulated scaffold and hi-rail vehicles.
Rapid’s methodology regularly includes substantial design components and Rapid has become adept at identifying solutions to enhance the finished product, such as innovative design solutions to complete structural repairs to station platforms and concourses without any disruption to the travelling public.
Works which Rapid has successfully completed cover many disciplines, including:
civil drainage works within the rail corridor (incorporating ULX and storm water retention tanks)
car-park upgrade and resurfacing
depot warehouse construction
refurbishment of derelict rail buildings
construction of large scale temporary accommodation and services for occupation by Sydney Trains staff
construction of driver amenities within the rail corridor
DA-approved design and construction of office accommodation within a State Heritage Listed precinct
spalling repairs to concrete
industrial paint systems and protective coatings
lead paint removal and encapsulation
heritage work including heritage painting and restoration of decorative elements
electrical upgrades and installations
full roof replacements
installation of roof access safety systems
internal bathroom/kitchen/office refurbishments and fit-outs
Rapid has also delivered Fire and Life Safety Assets removal, replacement and cleaning services in the City Underground Network, on the Sydney Harbour Bridge, in the Eastern Suburbs Railway Network and also the Olympic Park line – the projects have been delivered by our team twice since 2011, based upon our efficient delivery, our intimate knowledge of the network, our specialist protection officers, our willingness to refine our methodology on an ongoing basis in order to gain efficiencies and save our client money, and our willingness to work around other contractors and client activities to minimise and eliminate interruptions to normal services.
A focus on continual review and improvement of our work health and safety procedures is at the forefront of our disciplined approach to resource planning, resulting in stringent adherence to the safety requirements that exist in the rail industry. Rapid continues to invest heavily in our WHS systems to meet all statutory requirements as well as the challenges that exist in this often unpredictable environment.
All Rail sector team members have spent many years working within the industry and they have a deeply embedded understanding of the sector’s intricacies, regulations and internal process control procedures – this valuable experience provides us with a robust platform upon which we build procedures and processes to deliver projects with a clean safety and environmental record again and again.

We have extensive experience delivering planned and responsive maintenance works to social housing properties – we have delivered this work constantly since 2001, for clients including Housing NSW, St George Community Housing and Mission Australia Housing.
TAFE Colleges, Schools and Local Councils
Rapid has delivered extensive facilities maintenance works since its inception for clients in the education and local government sectors. Clients include TAFE NSW, The NSW Department of Education and Training, the Catholic Education Office, Parramatta Council, Penrith Council and Warringah Council. Our teams are adept at delivering maintenance, fit-out, refurbishment, upgrade, responsive and emergency works in occupied, operating environments, all with minimal disruption to normal operation.
We have an extensive and proud history of delivering work to Heritage structures going back to our founding in 1990. We have worked with Heritage Architects, adhere to Burra Charter principles and have the drive, passion, skill, knowledge and perseverance required to ensure that the beauty, strength, history, diversity and cultural significance of Heritage structures and features is maintained, preserved and protected.
